If you are thinking about traveling anywhere in Southern Africa in the future, it’s never too early to start looking at your options. Planning your trip well in advance will ensure that timely booking is possible when you are ready to go. Booking at least a year out, but optimally more, is a good rule of thumb for best case planning.

Lodging and transport options at some popular destinations, most notably the safari lodges, are in many cases quite limited and often fill up months – and sometimes more than a year – in advance. If your tour does not include safari, long range planning and booking are less essential, but equally helpful to ensure maximum flexibility and optimal choices for accommodation.

If you are considering a near-term safari, don’t give up. There may be lodge cancellations, or limited openings during your dates of travel. There are also some lodging options outside of the game reserves with ready access to game drives that may work for you. Contact us, and we will work with you to find the best option to fit your agenda and preferences.

Because airline pricing is dynamic, the earlier you book your international flight to Africa the more you will likely save. If you are using airline miles to secure your ticket, booking well in advance is a necessity. It is not uncommon for mileage seats to be sold out within days of being made available – which is typically just under a year out from the departure date.

Wild Life Wine Safaris provides all transport in Africa, including inter-African flights, for its food and wine group tours, and offers those same options for its customized tours.
